Residents Want Lower Speed Limits

Kara Hammer from CBS 5 reported today that parents and residents near Bain Elementary School are concerned with the speed people are driving in the area. It seems as if drivers are not conscious of the 25mph speed limit or the fact that they are in a school zone. Drivers are speeding through the neighborhood making it very unsafe for children. It is being argued that traffic control has not addressed the issue at hand.

Residents have been told that signs would be posted yet nothing has been done.

Luckily kids have been taught how to properly cross the street and how to ensure their own safety. Volunteer crossing guards have also been a big help with this issue. Residents are hoping that awareness will be created among the community. If driver's are aware of the consequences of their driving behaviors, they will be more likely to take more precaution when driving through a school zone.

Lets all put forth some extra effort to be cautious when driving through school zones. We want kids feel safe crossing the streets, as we want parents to not worry about the safety of their children. If everyone comes together as a community, we can make a change.
