At an altitude of 8,000 feet, Vedauwoo is a rather secluded rock oasis in southeastern Wyoming, filled with dense prin forests and aspen groves. Vedauwoo is designated as a semiprimitive area and enjoyed by a broad array of recreational users. It is a place of inherent natural beauty and mystery, seemingly frozen in time due to its strange rock formations and pleasent aesthetic valleys.
Located along Interstate I-80, about 30 miles west of Cheyenne, Vedauwoo is a great place for people of all ages to visit, especially rock climbing enthusiasts. Vedauwoo is known for spectacular granite rock formations in which you can sightsee, hike, mountainbike or picnic in.
Climbing season stretches from Mid-April through Mid-October. There are 28 semiprimitive (designated) campsites available within the confines of Central Vedauwoo, at a 'first come- first served' basis, each at $10 per night. Picnic tables, grilles and usually water is available but no shower facilities. Dispersed camping (non-designated camping) is also avaialbe nearly everywhere else that is not otherwise designated at no charge.
