Movies in Lions Park

Movies in Lions ParkIt's not too late to grab your lawn chairs, sit back and enjoy a movie in Lions Park.  Movies in the Park has returned for its third year with free flicks at the Lions Park Amphitheatre.  The Cheyenne Parks and Recreation event is sponsored by Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, which provides the movie equipment, and Bresnan Communications, which provides the movies.

This free event is held every Tuesday at sundown through August 17th (but no movie on July 27th), so there are still a few showings left for you to catch before the summer comes to an end.  Participants are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and be prepared for changes in weather during these movies.  Donations are accepted for outlying costs for staffings.

August 3, "Transformers II" PG-13, the battle for Earth has ended, but the battle for the universe has just begun.  After returining to Cyberton, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons and has decided to return to Earth with force.  Megatron is back and seeking revenge against the Autobots who have some reinforcements of their own in the fueled up sequel.  Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Dumal; Directed by Michael Bay; 150 minutes.

August 10, "The Blind Side" PG-13, this film is the remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home.  Michael was taken in by a wealthy white family who helped him fulfill his potential as a person and as an athlete.  He worked hard on the field and in the classroom and became an All-American in college and was picked in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft changing his life and the lives of the loving family who were there to watch him succeed.  Sandra Bullock, Kathy Bates, Time McGraw; Directed by John Lee Hancock; 128 minutes.

August 17, "How To Train Your Dragon" PG, this animated feature is set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, and based on the book by Cressida Cowell.  This action comedy tells the story of Hiccup, a Viking teenager who doesn't exactly fit in with his tribe's longstanding tradition of heroic dragon slayers.  Hiccup's world is turned upside down when he encounters a dragon that challenges him and his fellow Vikins to see the world from an entirely different point of view.  Voices by Jay Baruchel, Gerald Butler, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill; Directed by Chris Sanders; 98 minutes.

Don't miss your chance to spend some time with the family, cuddled up on blanket in Lions Park.
